Recently the Sierra County Humane Society re-vamped its website to include several key features which aid the community-minded programs operated by the non-profit animal welfare organization’s volunteer team.  One of those features is the addition of a checkbox to indicate a donor wishes to make their contribution a “monthly donation”. These donations sustain our programs in a crucial way. We thank Bill of Indiana,  Alison of California, Marie of Elephant Butte, NM, also Jim & Kathy of MN by way of Caballo, NM. Then we have Jessie, hometown unknown, Jim also hometown unknown. They all believe in our mission and have chosen to become sustaining donors. We also thank Walter of ABQ who always sends great notes of encouragement with his monthly cash contribution. Each time we open one of his monthly letters, we smile of gratitude.  Not to be forgotten in this list of gratefulness is our anonymous angel from ABQ who does not want publicity but who regularly drops off at Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe a substantial check for our sanctuary resident dogs and cats.

Last week, we informed our readers of this weekly article and our followers on our www.Facebook.comDesertHaven  page, that Dan, a local resident, was re-homing his shepherd puppies. Dan had contacted us to help him get his puppies adopted, so we listed them for adoption as part of our Adopt-a-Pet Referral program. This week, Dan contacted us again to let us know that he had been inundated with calls from people interested in adopting his puppies, thanks to the help we gave him via our program. Dan thanked us for our help and said he was able to choose safe and nice homes for each puppy. We make available this effective program free of charge to all Sierra County residents needing to re-home their pet.

This week’s wish list: Kitty Litter. Also canned food for kittens. We also need several non-working fridges and chest freezers to be used for storage at Desert Haven.
