Desert Haven Animal Refuge continues to keep an open line of communication with the entire staff at the City Shelter, which  handles animal issues in Truth or Consequences, Elephant Butte and the surrounding area of Sierra County. The no-kill sanctuary, through its management including the President of the organization and our Animal Care Coordinator, also its entire volunteer staff, cultivates a very positive professional relationship with everyone involved at the City Shelter. This allows everyone involved to achieve the ultimate goal: save as many little lives as possible, and relocate them as soon as feasible from the often very crowded City shelter environment.

We have revamped our Amazon Wish List to include necessities – and fun-items of course – for our little rescues. Thank-you, Shelbi of MN for sending cat food and to Anne, who adopted our Prancer now Rico some years ago, for sending goodies for our dogs in Dogtown. All our fur-babies seem to enjoy everything, but chew-bones are on the top of their list – no rawhide please. Our fur-babies are excited to see what comes for them in the mail! Please remember:  Chewy and Amazon do not let us know who is sending these packages when they arrive. Consequently,  when sending a package, please reach out to us through one of our channels: Facebook, website, email, or phone, so that we are able to find out what is arriving and as importantly, to  thank you personally for your generosity. Everything that is donated to us benefits our little rescues,  one way or the other – Everything is very sincerely appreciated.

Remember: Please save your receipts from Bullocks, our local community-minded grocery store. They mean $$$ for our organization. They help fund both our crucial Spay-Neuter and Spay-a-Stray programs. You can drop them off to one of our collection boxes in town:  the Williamsburg Post Office, the TorC Public Library, and Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe adjacent to Family Dollar in TorC.  You can also mail them to us in quantities.
