Fix Your Pet

Over 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in this country every day. Compare that to only 10,000 people born every day. It’s obvious that even if every man, woman and child adopted an unwanted pet, three would still not be enough homes for them. The misery of pet overpopulation can be prevented. Pets that are sterilized do not add to the problem.

The Sierra County Humane Society, Inc (SCHS) Fix Your Pet Program helps pet owners with the costs of spaying or neutering their pet. Since SCHS is solely funded through contributions and receives no financial support from any government entity, local or otherwise, it may not be possible to take care of everyone who wants the Humane Society’s help. Often a choice must be made, based on need and other reasons.

APPLICATION
To help us make that choice, please pick up a Fix Your Pet application from Sierra Veterinary Services 575-894-6773.

PROCEDURE
Answer the questions on our application as accurately as possible. If you are accepted into the SCHS Fix Your Pet Program, you will receive a rebate certificate in the mail within a week or so. With the certificate in hand, make the appointment with the veterinarian of your choice to have your companion animal sterilized. Once the operation on your pet is completed, send to the SCHS the rebate certificate filled out by your veterinarian.

IMPORTANT
You must have received your rebate certificate BEFORE you take your pet to the veterinarian. SCHS rebate certificates are not retroactive – NO exceptions.
