For the previous two weeks our residents of Dogtown, Baby and Spot-a-kiss, have shared their stories. Both are waiting to melt someone’s heart and move to their very own forever home. The DHAR team works very hard at ensuring the best homes possible for all of our little ones. Once an application is screened, approved, and a meeting has gone well, we complete a home visit either in person or virtually. Our very careful adoption process has served our rescues well.

This week we wish to share with our readers our deep gratitude for the immense support our small, non-profit organization has received from a local resident named Aran, a gentleman and a gentle man, indeed.  His genuine kindness has blessed the residents of our Cool Cat Neighborhood for nearly two years. Aran has cuddled with, brushed, sang to, talked with, reassured, loved, and nurtured countless felines twice weekly during his volunteer time with us. He calls them “my little angels”. He has been an angelic presence to them as well. Before Aran moves out of our area, we thank him for his beautiful spirit, for all his ways of giving to our animals and our cause. You will be missed greatly, Aran!

Mary Anne is our Sunday morning volunteer Dog Walker. Our furry residents love her special attention and her fun, engaging ways. We sincerely appreciate everyone who enriches the lives of our companion animals with their time and personal attention. It is very enjoyable and a great exercise too, to walk a dog on a leash to Playland or Old West, while the morning is still cool and inviting. There, they can enjoy some off-leash playtime while exploring their large, safe, all fenced playground. Do you have one hour a week or more to enrich the life of companion animals who give us so much pleasure, but ask for nothing in return? Connect with us at weR4pets@gmail.com or 575-894-2639.

Our donation box at the entrance of Desert Haven is being utilized to its fullest, it seems. Gaia recently dropped-off pet food and other supplies that are coming in handy already. Thank you, Gaia! Our mailing address is: SCHS & Desert Haven Animal Refuge, PO BOX 638, Williamsburg, NM 87942. Together, we make a difference.
