We in the Sierra County Humane Society feel blessed by the kindness of local residents who make donations to benefit the furry residents of Desert Haven Animal Refuge, the small, no-kill sanctuary owned and operated by the 501-c-3 no-profit charitable organization. Recently, a kind local woman reached out to ask if we could use a donation of several large rugs, some of them new and all almost new.  We were indeed grateful to receive them. We also wish to thank Norm and Dotti of Elephant Butte who answered our plea for old refrigerators and freezers to be used as sturdy storage. We continue to need non-working fridges and chest freezers to use as storage at Desert Haven. We remind our local friends and supporters to please save your aluminum cans and Bullock’s receipts for us. Our Can Corral is located next to Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe, which is adjacent to Family Dollar in TorC. You can also drop them off next to our donation box at the entrance to Desert Haven.  Our Bullocks Receipts collection box is located at the TorC Public Library, Williamsburg Post Office and at Paws & Claws. We appreciate our local residents who also send envelopes full of receipts to us at SCHS & Desert Haven Animal Refuge, PO BOX 638, Williamsburg, NM 87942. It all adds up for our little rescues. Our Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe Facebook page is active and we invite you to take a look, and give us a “like”. Our store is open from 11:00-5:00 every Friday and Saturday. At this time, we do not accept donations, except furniture pieces. Having been closed due to the Covid restrictions for several months in 2020, we need to downsize our current inventory.

Dan of Sierra County contacted us recently about his three German Shepherd mix puppies in need of re-homing. He is participating in our Adopt-a-Pet Referral program and they are now posted on our Desert Haven Petfinder page at  DesertHaven.Petfinder.com.
