Like most of the stores in town, the stress of this pandemic continues to wear on the traffic in our store in Truth or Consequences, Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe, which is owned and operated under our 501c3 non-profit animal welfare organization, Sierra County Humane Society (SCHS). Business has been hurt with the slowing of our usually very reliable customer pool who come from out of town to visit Elephant Butte and Caballo Lakes and our medicinal Hot Springs. We’ve been told time and time again from these tourists, visitors and week-end vacationers that while in the area, they make a point to shop with us. With the State parks closed for many months this summer, and now only opened during daylight hours, our local businesses still not fully operating due to the pandemic, our local residents and out-of-towners alike continue to be impacted by economic difficulties and it painfully reflects on business at Paws & Claws.  We trust this new year will bring new hopes and opportunities for our non-profit Thrift Shoppe and all the other local stores that are equally impacted.

Aside from providing funds to help operate our animal welfare organization, Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe continues to be crucial as the point of contact for local animal related as well as tourism information.  Some of our strongest supporters have come to know and embrace our cause as they shop at Paws & Claws. This week we thank those who have made heartwarming shows of support by becoming Lifetime Members and Sustaining Members of Sierra County Humane Society. We are grateful to Jim & Cathy of MN, Sharon of ABQ and Steve of TorC, also Alison of San Diego, CA,  for establishing Lifetime Membership with us in 2021, and to those who recently initiated monthly contributions via our new website. We also sincerely appreciate Alison of California, Bill of Indiana, also Sharon of ABQ and Marie of Elephant Butte, NM, for choosing to sustain our little ones by regularly giving every month.
