Daisy and Sandy, the beloved Dachshund siblings left behind when Larry, their doting human and Vice President of the Sierra County Humane Society, passed away recently, are now back at Desert Haven Animal Refuge, where they were adopted from several years ago. We are happy to report that both our little fur-girls successfully went through their extensive dental procedure and surgery. They are back at Desert Haven while recovering from their ordeal under the watchful eye of our team of volunteers. Thank you to all our supporters who have sent good vibes and contributed to their well-being since the passing of their Human. We’ve been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from loved ones who sent donations in memory of our Vice President Larry, also in honor of local resident Codi and her faithful furry friend Maggi who both recently passed in a tragic home fire. Contributions to benefit our animal welfare cause that Larry and Codi deeply cared about are casting an ever-lasting light on their names.

Desert Haven continues to rescue new furry residents as others are adopted and move to their forever home. They all need food, exercise, play time, and, as importantly, personal attention. Our little rescues need this special attention to overcome the trauma they often suffered before being rescued at Desert Haven. Many arrive at the sanctuary in poor health, disoriented, often frightened from having experienced horrendous situations. Others suffer from deep separation anxiety. Before they can be adoptable, they all need that extra-special attention from our team of volunteers, and they get it, day in and day out. Here at Desert Haven, every member of our team goes the extra mile to help our little rescues feel loved and understood. And yes, we are all extremely proud of our small but strong team of volunteers, both at Desert Haven and Paws & Claws Thrift Shoppe. Each and everyone of us is an integral part of its strength and its success. Way to go, Team!
